problem
Emory University sought to revitalize its oldest building, Convocation Hall, after a major renovation. The challenge was to blend modern digital storytelling with the historical significance of the building, creating an engaging experience for students, faculty, and visitors while preserving its architectural heritage.
solution
Second Story designed and implemented thoughtfully integrated digital canvases and mosaics that harmonized with Convocation Hall’s iconic architecture. These digital elements showcased the University’s stories, providing a visually stunning and informative experience throughout the building.
The project began with the transformation of the building’s foyer into a grand digital mosaic, designed to mimic the marble patchwork that defines Convocation Hall’s architecture. This mosaic served as an engaging visual platform, displaying the University’s stories through dynamic templates that invited viewers to explore further. The design not only captivated attention but also maintained a flow, ensuring visitors moved naturally through the space.
Throughout the building, hallways were transformed into engaging portals using digital canvases, offering snapshots of campus life and happenings. The Candler Room was another key focus, where etched panels were seamlessly integrated into the historic woodwork, illustrating the building’s rich history. The result was a balanced integration of modern digital experiences with the timeless beauty of Convocation Hall, creating a meaningful connection between the past and present.
